Young people finishing college in December are having a tough time finding work. That’s no surprise. It’s been the case for years now — young adult unemployment has been on the rise since 2007. But after U.S. unemployment rates bounced back a bit in 2010, the spiraling trend for young...

When we launched in 2009, PerkStreet’s goal was to help Americans break the cycle of debt and start earning the kind of rewards they were used to only getting on credit by spending on debit — by spending responsibly with no risk of debt. Today, our goal remains unchanged. But...

Thanks Jarrod. Well said. It takes a lot more to be really financially free than taking the first steps that cure the immediate discomfort of financial trouble. -Kyle Kyle Psaty PerkStreet FinancialHow NOT to Get Out of Debt: Learning from Common Mistakes

Good point, Edwin, All the gift cards that are currently Visa will be rotated to MasterCard. Don't worry. We know a ton of our customers love their prepaid debit perks, so we'll make sure the option to redeem for a prepaid MasterCard debit card is an option as soon as the switch happens. As with the PerkStreet debit cards we'll be issuing, nothing will change with the gift cards except the logos. -Kyle Kyle Psaty PerkStreet FinancialPerkStreet Moves to MasterCard for a Better Customer Experience

Thanks Mick. Great question. Good news and bad news: The Bad: There's no coverage for rental cars. (I know that's annoying when they hold all that money!) The Good: There IS going to be MasterAssist Travel Assistance Services on this card. That means. If you lose your tickets or travel documents while you're away, MasterCard will replace them. It also includes emergency medical and legal referals, transmission of urgent messages and tracing and redirect of lost luggage. The company will even float you some cash in an emergency. Master RoadAssist Service will also be included on these new cards, meaning if you have any problems while you're on the road, they'll take care of you (towing, lock-out, gas and tire changes) for a pre-arranged rate. If you don't have AAA, this might help you travel with more peace-of-mind. Basically, after the new cards go out, if something goes wrong while you're traveling, call MasterCard and tell them you're a PerkStreet customer. In most cases, they'll be able to help you out. -Kyle Kyle Psaty PerkStreet FinancialPerkStreet Moves to MasterCard for a Better Customer Experience

Nathan, Great point! This will also mean giving our customers the ability to shop at the MasterCard Marketplace (http://marketplace.mastercard.com/), which offers tons of merchant-funded rewards. You can even customize the experience to filter out the stuff you're not interested in. -Kyle Kyle Psaty PerkStreet FinancialPerkStreet Moves to MasterCard for a Better Customer Experience
