September PowerPerks Cheesecake Factory Ace Hardware Pottery Barn

The kids are headed back to school, the leaves will start turning soon and the days and nights are getting cooler. All these can only mean one thing: September PowerPerks are here!

Below are the PowerPerks you selected for this month. Many of you have heard we are testing a new version of PowerPerks, which we are excited to be rolling out soon. We’re hoping that this will be the last month of  the “old” version of PowerPerks, but don’t worry! You’ll still be able to earn up to 5% back on the retailers listed below even if the new PowerPerks program is rolled out to our entire customer base before the end of September.  Now, on to your September PowerPerks!

The Cheesecake Factory®

The Cheesecake Factory® is widely known for their cheesecake. But they have so much more than that. Their menu is huge, and the portions are even bigger. They also cater to health consious folks with their Skinnylicious menu, and are more than accommodating to other dietary needs. Of course, you can’t leave without at least trying a piece of cheesecake. You can even order one of their legendary desserts from their website and have it shipped anywhere your heart desires. Earning up to 5% back on all your purchases is just the cream cheese frosting on this red velvet cheesecake. in-store only

Ace Hardware®,  AceHardware.com

The weather is cooling down, and for many people that means fall yard clean up. However, it’s also the perfect time to work on your home improvement to-do list you’ve been putting off because of the summer heat. Ace Hardware® and AceHardware.com are great resources for advice and tools to complete all of your projects, big and small. They even have a handy “To Done” tool on their website, where you can save items and projects for future reference.  Top it off with earning up to 5%, and you have all the incentive you need to become the handiest person in the household. in-store and online

Pottery Barn®, PotteryBarn.com, Pottery Barn Kids®

Every once in a while, it’s nice to freshen up your décor for the change in seasons. Maybe your kids have outgrown some of their bedroom furniture? That’s where Pottery Barn® and Pottery Barn Kids® come in. Get a cozy throw blanket for those afternoons when you just want to curl up with a book on the couch, or create a new organizational system for the little ones’ bedrooms. Whatever you choose, you’ll be receiving up to 5% back on your purchases, which will help make your decorating choices a lot easier. in-store and online

UPDATE: We are extending these PowerPerks through the month of October! This is in addition to the new PowerPerks you are now receiving weekly. Power up, PerkStreeters!

Details: PowerPerks bonus perks limited to $5,000 in spend every calendar year. Unless specific stores are named, qualifying purchases are determined by Merchant Category Codes. To redeem a perk as a statement credit requires 2 perks per each $20 redemption, thereby reducing your effective cash back rate. In addition, statement credits are redeemed in $20 increments. For example, a $20 statement credit will require $22 in perks. A $40 statement credit requires $44 in perks, etc. All other reward redemption options require no additional perks. Non-PIN debit card purchases will earn 5% cash back in September and October 2012 at the following retailers: The Cheesecake Factory ®, Ace Hardware®, AceHardware.com®,  Pottery Barn®, Pottery Barn Kids®, PotteryBarn.com®.

I don’t like this idea for perks because it tries to tell me where to spend my money. These incentives do not have my best interest in mind. I will hang out w/ PerkStreet for a while and see if it works for me or if they get a better incentive program.

  • steph

FYI, by perks I meant the three highlighted retailers that I won’t be shopping at regardless of incentive.

  • Jessica

Nobody says you *have* to shop at Ace, PB, or The Cheesecake Factory. All they’re saying is you’ll get a little extra money back if you do. If you don’t, you’ll still get a little money back from shopping anyway.

Where you bank is your choice, but at least here, I get a little bit of my money back that I wouldn’t have before. So as long as that program holds, I’ll stick around.

What are some of the incentive programs other banks have?

  • Dan

I don’t understand those who are complaining about this program. After years and years of paying fees to the big banks, I decided to switch to Perkstreet. For the first time in my life a bank is paying me for doing business instead of nickel and diming me to death with fees. I never pay to use an ATM anymore because there are tons of surcharge free ones at 7-11, Target, and CVS in my area. Who cares that the PowerPerks are only at selected places that you may not use? You’re getting 1% back on everything else! Plus, the customer service is great and the website is easy to use. I did a bunch of research when I decided to leave BofA and I challenge anyone to find an easier online bank with better incentives than Perkstreet.

  • Wildo

I’m with Perkstreet because there isn’t another bank that offers rewards and/or cashback for free (and no strings attached) without “nickel and dime-ing” people to death. Goodbye WellsFargo!

  • Jennifer

Wow, I bet if someone handed you a $20 you would complain about the condition of the bill. You sound like a debbie downer.

That’s your choice. It’s just an added incentive if you do. I’m always amazed at people who complain about free stuff!

  • Brandon

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a fan of PerkStreet. But I was appalled at how much you have to spend and earn in Perks before you may redeem them! I wish someone would explain why rewards redemption doesn’t start until $50 for many items! I look forward to the day (in the distant future) when I may redeem my Perks.

  • Renee

I also don’t understand those that are complaining about Perkstreet. I haven’t changed a thing with my spending habits and yet now earn 1% on all the same monthly purchases I’ve made for years. I thought I had a pretty good incentive checking account program before the government disallowed my bank to continue it, but it nowhere compared to Perkstreet’s incentives.

  • Julie

I love ACE! Great for all the home improvements!

  • KarenC

Very happy with PerkStreet! Ace Hardware will be great for getting things spruced up for the Fall and Holidays!

  • johnny rotten

I’m going to complain because the offers for power perks are useless so far. For example the Sam’s offer this month is useless because I can only receive perks if I buy a membership. I already have a membership and in my opinion the offer needs reworded so it’s a $40 spend on anything to get $10 back.
