In Season 6 of The Office, Jim shows up with the word “book” written on his face on Halloween. His costume? “Facebook.” I thought this was a riot and it inspired me to write this post offering ideas for funny Halloween costumes.

Funny Halloween Costumes:

1: Hawaiian Punch – To pull off this classic fruit punch, grab a bright Hawaiian shirt and some flower leis. Combine them with a pair of boxing gloves. For effect, paint on a red juice mustache.

2: Candy Wrapper – This one’s clever. Dress like a rapper, with baggy clothes, sunglasses and a microphone, and tape or staple candy all over your clothes. Wear candy necklaces.

3: God’s Gift to Women / Men – Cut head and arm holes in a box with no bottom. Wrap it in wrapping paper, and put a big tag on it that says, “From: God” and “To: Women / Men.”

4: Deviled Egg – Pick up a cheap devil costume form the Halloween store. Instead of a red shirt, wear a white T-shirt under your cape. Draw a big yellow dot in the middle of your chest.

5: French Kiss – Dress in a black beret, a black-and-white striped shirt (horizontal stripes) and tie a handkerchief around your neck. Paint your face in black-and-white like a member of the band K.I.S.S. Carry a baguette for effect.

6: Knight Light – Pick up a kid’s knight costume and tape a flashlight to your chest after you’ve got it on. You could also make a knight costume out of a bunch of light beer boxes.

7: Queen / King of Hearts – Wear clothes with paper hearts taped or stapled all over it and a crown.

8: Anchorwoman / Anchorman – Cut out a big black anchor and carry it with you.

9: Behind the Times – Pick up a copy of The New York Times and carry it in front of you. You’re behind the times!

10: Shrimp on the Barbie – Dress like Barbie, with a big blonde wig, and tape fake shrimp all over yourself.

BONUS: Cereal Killer - Staple empty cereal boxes all over a shirt and throw it on. For effect, add bloody wounds to the boxes and carry a bloody fake knife.

There are lots of funny Halloween costumes just waiting to be made. The best ones tend to be those that make the most sense to the people you’ll be hanging out with at a Halloween party. If the party is full of police officers, take a really big piece of white paper, fold it in half, but don’t make a crease. Tape it together into a tear-drop shape with arm holes and add a really large cuff link — you’re a hand cuff!
