Blog_March_PowerPerks

Whether you are looking forward to opening the windows for spring cleaning, are gearing up to start a home improvement project, or are hoping to read that new book outdoors, your March PerkStreet PowerPerks will help you welcome an especially “green” spring this March — just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoy warmer weather full of growth and life as you grow your perks balance. You’ll earn 5% cash back on purchases at this month’s selected retailers.

NewEgg.com®

Tend to your garden with some new tools, capture your blooming flowers on a new camera, and then post your photos online with a new laptop from NewEgg.com®. Or maybe new speakers, new computer software, and a new gaming system are more your speed. NewEgg.com® has something for all PerkStreeters and adding their standard free 2-day shipping to your 5% cash back perks makes this a super fast and super frugal deal this March.

Dollar General®

Cleaning products, health and beauty essentials, and DIY project materials are just some of the items you can pick up in-store or can order online from Dollar General®. Why not save on gas (and time) and take advantage of their free shipping for online orders of $25 or more? Make sure your start to spring is efficient as you save your green and maximize your perks with 5% cash back in-store and online this March at Dollar General®.

Barnes & Noble®

Update your Nook, buy a St. Patrick’s Day themed gift for your Irish friends and family, or treat yourself to a smart and savvy purchase at Barnes & Noble®. Both in-store and online purchases will earn 5% back in March. Spare yourself gas, traffic, and parking lot woes with their free shipping offer on online orders of $25 or more. That’s what we call [check]book smart.

Details: PowerPerks bonus perks limited to $5,000 in spend every calendar year. Unless specific stores are named, qualifying purchases are determined by Merchant Category Codes. Some redemption options require you to use additional perks beyond the redemption value, effectively reducing your cash back rate. Non-PIN debit card purchases will earn 5% cash back in March at the following retailers: Barnes & Noble® (online and in-store), Dollar General® (online and in-store), and NewEgg.com® (online only).

Question, I am planning to by some software on newegg.com and I have a special 5x perks offer applied to my account. Does this mean I will get the 5% cash back and then it will be multiplied by 5? or do these special offers not stack with powerperks?

I have a question, Does the Dollar General same as Dollar Tree stores?

  • Simon

No, they are totally different companies

    Hey Molly,
If you’re currently receiving 5% cash back on all purchases, then you will receive 5% on your newegg.com purchase in this scenario. Unfortunately, these two bonuses do not multiply when used together. I hope this helps.

Do I get perk rewards when I pay my utility bills, car insurance, etc. online with my debit card?

  • http://Twitter.com/KylePs80 Kyle Psaty

You do, Christina, provided you can pay those bills with your card number. Remember, any non-PIN purchase you make with your card qualifies for perks. If you have to use your checking account number, pay with an automatic bill-pay you set up through myperkstreet.com, or have to enter your PIN, you won’t earn rewards. One thing to note: Some utility companies, cell phone service providers and other companies that bill you regularly may process your online payments as “PINless debit,” which doesn’t earn perks either. For more info on how to avoid this, check out this blog post: http://blog.perkstreet.com/pinless-debit-card-transactions-can-cost-you-perks/

Thanks much and have a great day.

I shop at Dollar General a lot, but when I swipe my card, it won’t let me choose a “Credit” option. I can only use it as debit. Is there a way to change this?

This happens to me at lots of places and I just ask the cashier if I can charge it as credit and there has always been a way for them to do it.  Have you tried this?

  • Angela K. Marvin

No, I just assumed — incorrectly, possibly — that if it wasn’t an option on the keypad, it wasn’t an option. I’ll do that next time, because I shop at DG a LOT and I’d love 5%! Thanks for the tip, Ben.

     You’re welcome, hope it works!

  • Jodi Davis

Angela & Ben…typically, if “credit” isn’t an option on the keypad screen, you are supposed to select “cancel” then it will give you a cancel or credit option. I know, it’s very counter-intuitive, but this is my experience. Good luck!

Great advice, Jodi! This is certainly not something people expect but is almost always true from what we’ve heard here at PerkStreet. I know my grocery store PIN pad works this way. ~Kyle

    ok, thanks Simon.

That’s is almost always true, Jodi but here and there I have found you are supposed to hit the green “accept” button.  Don’t know why some are different.
