Blooming Flowers and Bonus Cash Back with May PowerPerks
May 2012 PowerPerks | PerkStreet Financial

With May flowers comes blooming perks. Watch your cash back balance grow this May with 5% bonus perks on festive footwear, on new sporting equipment, on something extra delicious for the kitchen, or on cards and gifts for the special people in your life. You voted, we listened. This month’s PowerPerks retailers are Zappos.com®, Sports Authority®, Williams-Sonoma®, and Hallmark.

Zappos.com®

June is always rainy in Boston and while my Hunter boots haven’t failed me yet, some wishful thinking – and shopping – might be in order this year. Whether you’re in the market for beach sandals, running sneakers, or hiking boots for the Spring, enjoy 5% perks as well as free shipping, free returns, and 24/7 customer service from Zappos.com®. Think on your feet (and about your feet) this May, saving money and time as you earn bonus perks.

Sports Authority®

From the opening of community pools, to the start of after work sports programs, to less-chilly morning runs, Spring invites many more exciting outdoors activities than did Winter. Whether you’re building muscle, building a trailside tent, or building a team, you’ll earn 5% back this May on in-store and online purchases at Sports Authority®.  Not particularly athletic?  Nursing an injury, perhaps? Don’t forget that Sports Authority® offers games for kids, adults, and families alike, as well as fan gear to show off your favorite teams or athletes.

Williams-Sonoma®

Make the act of treating yourself or someone special extra delicious this May with 5% bonus perks at Williams-Sonoma®. Inspire tired recipes, add some color to the table, or improve your morning coffee efficiency with an online purchase or by visiting one of their 250+ stores nationwide. While there, don’t forget to think of the special Moms and graduates in your life. Mixing bowls and soup pots go a long way, regardless of your phase of life.

Hallmark

With Mother’s Day on May 13th and with graduation ceremonies commencing at high schools and colleges across the U.S., cards are a must this month. Stop in to one of the 38,000 Hallmark stores and share your love for, pride in, and appreciation for the people in your life while you earn bonus perks. For the month of May, all Hallmark purchases in store and online will put 5% back in your wallet.

How did we pick these places?

We didn’t. You did! Each month, we select a handful of options based on places where our customers shop often and allow everyone in our customer base and community to vote for their favorite categories here on the blog. We have to avoid extremely popular spots like Walmart and gas stations, because offering 5% on these would strain our business. However, requests for bonus earnings at places like these influenced our decision to offer 2% cash back to all customers on purchases at major online retailers as part of the April 4, 2012 product change.

Details: PowerPerks bonus perks limited to $5,000 in spend every calendar year. Unless specific stores are named, qualifying purchases are determined by Merchant Category Codes. Some redemption options require you to use additional perks beyond the redemption value, effectively reducing your cash back rate. Non-PIN debit card purchases will earn 5% cash back in May at the following retailers: Zappos.com®, Sports Authority® (online and in store), Williams-Sonoma® (online and in store), and Hallmark.

    Kyle,
Is there a new rule (or old rule) concerning how much cash can be deposited via moneygram to a Perkstreet checking account? It says on MoneyGrams website that up to $10,000 can be express paid (deposited) per transaction, yet when I went to a CVS drugstore to make a much smaller deposit, my deposit was refused by moneygram because they said the limit is $2,000 per day per transaction. ie: if i wanted to deposit hypothetically $5,000, I would have to do it over 3 days and 3 visits. Is this correct? I called moneygram and they took down my feedback, but couldn’t otherwise address this discrepancy. Needless to say, it was frustrating to wait in line for 15 mins then have my deposit rejected. (or made smaller) Additionally, if I go three times to make these deposits, doesn’t this also raise Perkstreet’s costs? (assuming you guys pay moneygram per express payment which currently retails for $3.95 each…..Bancorp probably pays less, but I digress)   If this is correct, maybe Bancorp should consider “leaning” on moneygram to change this rule or otherwise maybe consider going with Western Union or some other provider?????  It’s frustrating to have a monthly electronic limit on an account then also have cash deposits rejected or not possible because they are sometimes greater than $2,000.  Thanks for listening!  -Drew-

I have deposited more than $2000 but I do it at a Walmart. Maybe each store is setup differently?
