Summer is upon us, Father’s Day is fast approaching, and outdoor season is in full swing. Parks, beaches and picnics are in the near future for most of us. How did we pick these places?

We didn’t. You did! Each month, we select a handful of options based on places where our customers shop often and allow everyone in our customer base and community to vote for their favorite categories here on the blog. We have to avoid extremely popular spots like Walmart and gas stations, because offering up to 5% on these would strain our business. However, requests for bonus earnings at places like these influenced our decision to offer up to 2% cash back at major online retailers.

Details: PowerPerks bonus perks limited to $5,000 in spend every calendar year. Unless specific stores are named, qualifying purchases are determined by Merchant Category Codes. To redeem a perk as a statement credit requires 2 perks per each $20 redemption, thereby reducing your effective cash back rate. In addition, statement credits are redeemed in $20 increments.  All other reward redemption options require no additional perks. For example, a $20 statement credit will require $22 in perks. A $40 statement credit requires $44 in perks, etc. Non-PIN debit card purchases will earn up to 5% cash back in June at the following retailers: Cold Stone Creamery®, Dairy Queen®, Ben & Jerry’s®, Lands’ End® (online and in store), Drugstore.com™, and Beauty.com™.

    totally useless for me, disenchanted with this whole bonus system and not what i originally signed up for … very disappointed with how you baited me for $5K and then withdrew the perks.

    I too like the DQ and Coldstone perks. I don’t have much time for Facebook, and I don’t tweet – too busy with two jobs! Could you please email each month’s bonus perks also?

    Barbara I am agreeing with you also. It was very disheartening to jump through all the hoops to get my account to where it could start earning the 5%, and then just before I finally thought I was there – the bonus system we originally signed up for was revoked. Good business on Perk Streets part would have been to honor what they promised to their current customers at the time and then apply the new changes to the incoming  making them full aware of their system. I am very disappointed as well.

    Lets put the blame where it belongs.   Congress capped Debit card fees, and changed many of the rules that apply to Credit cards.  While much of it was a good thing for consumers, it changed how Banks make money on fees.  So, Perkstreet could not maintain 5% back when their “income” from fees was cut a great deal.  (No, I don’t work for Perkstreet).  I still find my Perkstreet account to be worthwhile to me, others may not.   While there are lots of credit cards with cash back, they have lots of limitations and I find them more of a pain to use.

    I love Ben and Jerry’s! This is going to be one fantastic summer. I’ve been waiting for some good cash-back deals for quality ice cream for ages, and it seems this is going to be the month!

    Also, +1 about having these emailed to us. I think it would be a whole lot more convenient for all of us if you could just have these emailed to us, since checking this blog is quite inconvenient.

    Thanks James. Look for these deals in the bottom right-hand corner of your Perks Update emails, which go out roughly every two weeks. If you open those emails to see how many perks you’ve earned, you’ll be able to quickly click through to see where you can get 5% during the current month.
